This little piece of direct mail came through our post after I went to apply for a free sample of Millicano Coffee by Kenco
The combination of making the shape of the handbag the shape of a cup coincides with the copywriting on the piece. I like how they interlink together effectively in a stylish and simplistic approach. The product’s description(seen inside the DM); “a clever combination of instant coffee and finely milled Arabrica whole beans…’proper’ coffee in an instant”, gives the impression that the product is all about good combinations and this reverts back to their approach in direct mailing.
The use of a handbag as an incentive giveaway, also indicates the target market of this product. Women with fashionable tastes will be drawn towards this type of marketing, even though to get this direct mail, I requested a sample through a website online.
It definitely appeals to me and my housemates, as we find it rather eye catching and a lovely designed piece to receive a free sample, compared to a boring white envelope. Well done Kenco!
